Disability License
A resident Disability License authorizes the holder to attempt to take or possess
freshwater fish, saltwater fish and wildlife game consistent with state and
federal regulations and the rules of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation
Commission.
Any permit(s) included with the issuance of a Disability License is also valid for
the length of the license except for the Migratory Bird, Federal Duck Stamp and
Tarpon Tag.
Eligibility
Prior to FFWCC issuing a Disability License, certification of disability
must be provided in one of the following forms:
- Certification by the United States Railroad Retirement Board
- Certification by the United States Veterans Administration or any
branch of the United States Armed Forces
- Florida Department of Veteran Affairs 100-percent, service-connected
Disabled
Veteran Identification Card (must have the statement "total and permanent disabled")
- Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Worker's Compensation
(DFS-F2-DWC-4)
- An order from a Judge of Compensation Claims
- Written confirmation by the carrier providing Workers' Compensation
benefits
- Documentation of current eligibility for disability benefits from
the Social Security Administration; documentation should not be older
than 12 months.
Original Application
Renewal
Applicants renewing a license where disability benefits are being established
by the Social Security Administration must comply with all
requirements as outlined in section "Original Application".
Applicants renewing a license where disability benefits have been established
by a means other than the Social Security Administration must comply
with all requirements as outlined in section "Original Application" with the
exception of item #3.
Renewal applications should not be submitted more than 30 days in advance of
the expiration of the current license. Applications sent more than 30 days
in advance will be held by FFWCC until it is within 30 days of the current
expiration date.
Additional License Information
The begin date of the license is the date of issuance; the license is:
- Valid for two consecutive years if the documentation provided as proof
is current eligibility for disability benefits from the Social Security
Administration and as long as the licensee remains a resident of Florida, or
- Valid for five consecutive years from the date of issuance for all other
qualified documentation submitted for eligibility as long as the licensee
remains a resident of Florida
