The Tax Collector acts as an agent for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for titling and registering watercraft. All motorized vessels, commercial and private, must be registered and titled, unless exempted, before they can be used in Florida waters. This should be done in the county in which the vessel is located or where the vessel owner resides. The purchaser of a new or used vessel has 30 days to apply for registration and title.
