by User Not Found | Apr 09, 2018

Did you know that Florida offers more than 120 specialty plates ranging from sports teams to philanthropic and environmental initiatives? It all started with the Challenger plate in Florida, in 1986. From then, Florida’s specialty license plate program has raised over $600 million for worthy causes and over 1.3 million Floridians annually participate in the program. Florida specialty license plates support a wealth of causes. They are a matter of state pride and many provide unique opportunities for Florida vehicle owners to personalize their prized possessions.

Whatever your interests, hobbies or passions may be, there’s bound to be a specialty license plate for you! Check out some of the unique Florida specialty plates and the amazing causes they benefit.

State of the Arts – The “State of the Arts” plate supports art organizations, programs and activities. Funds collected through the sale of these specialty license plates are distributed to the counties where the plates are sold and are used to support art organizations, programs and activities within that county.

Share the Road – You don’t need to be a cyclist to support the “Share the Road” Florida license plate. Sharing the Road is for ALL road users: pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other motor vehicle drivers. Proceeds from the plate directly benefit Florida residents as well as tourists. Share the Road strives to promote safety among cyclists, pedestrians and motorists so that we may all commute safely.

Stop Heart Disease – The Florida Heart Research Foundation, Inc. awards the funds collected by the “Stop Heart Disease” specialty plate purchases to support research within the state of Florida to further understand heart disease and its causes, treatments, cure and prevention.

Protect the Florida Panther – The “Protect the Panther” specialty plate supports the protection of the endangered Florida Panther. The revenue from sales of this specialty plate go to the Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund in the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The funds are used for education and programs to protect the endangered Florida Panther.
