North Fort Myers Service Project: Area Agency on Aging

by Angie Filian | Oct 18, 2018

At the Lee County Tax Collector’s Office, many of our employees support efforts that give back to the community, and each of our service locations have a local nonprofit or charitable cause that they support through fundraising. In February, a representative from Area Agency on Aging came to visit the North Fort Myers service center and shared information on some of the incredible things this local organization does to help older adults and adults with disabilities throughout Southwest Florida. After hearing the positive impact this organization has on elderly Lee County residents, the North Fort Myers office decided to step up and help.

The North Fort Myers fundraising efforts began shortly after the AAASWFL representative visited the office location. The LCTC team began selling candy in April and have raised more than $1,078 for Area Agency on Aging Southwest Florida! They will continue their fundraising efforts throughout the rest of the year and are hoping to present a check to AAASWFL in December.

The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) is a nonprofit organization that connects elderly seniors and adults with disabilities to resources and assistance for living safely with independence and dignity. In addition, they provide programs and services for Southwest Florida seniors and people with disabilities including health and wellness classes for seniors and caregivers, Medicare benefits counseling through the SHINE program and elder abuse prevention and education.
