Downtown Fort Myers Service Project: Gifts of HOPE

by Angie Filian | Nov 27, 2018

It doesn’t take much to inspire hope. And that is something that the Lee County Tax Collector employees take to heart. The Downtown Fort Myers service center has created their own Gifts of HOPE service project, which helps those less fortunate with some of life’s necessities.

The “HOPE” in Gifts of Hope is an acronym for Helping Our People Everyday and that is something the Lee County Tax Collector’s Office strives to do. The LCTC team members have taken it upon themselves to collect and bag items for homeless and indigent citizens to help them take care of basic hygiene needs. These bags generally include everyday items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. The team is seeking donations of the following items that they would like to add to the “Gifts of Hope” bags:

  • Feminine products
  • Travel-size first-aid kits
  • Bandages
  • Antibiotic ointment and wipes
  • Socks
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Rain ponchos
  • Travel-size tissue packs
  • Deodorant
  • Combs
  • Wet wipes
  • Sunscreen
  • Lip balm

If you’re interested in making a difference in someone’s life, you too can join the Lee County Tax Collector’s Office in giving gifts of hope. Contact the Downtown Fort Myers office at 239-533-6000 for more information on how you can donate these items!
