Sweet Treats for Good

Giving back to the community sure is sweet! The Lee County Tax Collector’s Office is dedicating to giving back to our community and several of our office locations do so by selling sweets and treats as a fundraising initiative. Many of our office locations and employees have taken it upon themselves to begin selling candy, sweets and goodies for local nonprofits and charitable causes right here in Southwest Florida. Next time you’re in one of the following office locations, go ahead and treat yourself to support their community service project!

Cape Coral: Hearts and Homes for Veterans

The Lee County Tax Collector’s Office believes that every veteran deserves a home, which is why the Cape Coral service center decided to support Hearts and Homes for Veterans as their community service project. Hearts and Homes for Veterans provides subsidized housing for veterans and their families, assist veterans in finding employment as well as helping our returning veterans repatriate back into our community as active and productive citizens.

Since the Lee County Tax Collector’s Office fundraising efforts began over 4 years ago, the LCTC team has raised more than $5,000 for Hearts and Homes for Veterans.

Lehigh Acres: Senior Paws Sanctuary

The Lehigh Acres service center supports Senior Paws Sanctuary, a nonprofit organization that provides urgent care and foster homes for older dogs and dogs with severe medical conditions. As an ongoing fundraising initiative at the Lehigh Acres office, we collect food, towels and other pet-friendly items as well as sell candy bars to benefit the organization. Please consider buying a treat or bringing a donation during your next visit. Since our efforts began in May 2017, we have raised more than $1,500 for Senior Paws Sanctuary.

North Fort Myers: Area Agency on Aging

In February 2018, a representative from Area Agency on Aging came to visit the North Fort Myers service center and shared information on some of the incredible things this local organization does to help older adults and adults with disabilities throughout Southwest Florida. After hearing the positive impact this organization has on elderly Lee County residents, the North Fort Myers office decided to step up and help. The North Fort Myers office began selling candy bars and other sweet treats in April 2018 and have raised more than $1,078 for Area Agency on Aging Southwest Florida.

South Fort Myers: Golisano Children’s Hospital

The South Fort Myers service location supports Golisano Children’s Hospital. The hospital was in its final stages of construction when the South Fort Myers office saw this as the perfect opportunity to help and support local children needing medical care. Since the South Fort Myers office began their fundraising efforts through candy sales, they have raised more than $4,000 for Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Next time you’re in one of our offices, ask your customer service provider what fundraising initiatives they have going on. You too, can support their efforts and give back to your local community by purchasing sweet treats or partaking in their fundraising efforts!
