MEET THE TEAM: Clarissa Calhoun – Colonial Service Center

She eats ox tails, loves cats and is a proud native of the Conch Republic! Meet Clarissa Calhoun, Customer Service Office Third Assistant for the Lee County Tax Collector. The fourth-generation Key West native moved to Fort Myers in 2002 and started working for the tax collector in August 2010. With the help of managers Joan Schaefer, Ana Torres, and Colonial Service Center Manager Tiffany Moore, Clarissa strives daily to exceed customer expectations and implement changes to meet the growing needs of Lee County residents. Clarissa’s job runs the gamut from opening and closing the office to conducting customer satisfaction surveys, but perhaps most thrilling are the rides she takes with young drivers as a driver license road test administrator.


“Putting your life on the line to give clear instructions to drivers facing oncoming traffic certainly reinforced my belief in the power of prayer!” Clarissa said.


 As much as she enjoys those thrills, Clarissa takes comfort in simple pleasures, like the company of a big, fluffy cat, traveling to visit her family, and exploring her faith. Sometimes, she enjoys going to the mall and just watching all of the different people walk by. Clarissa is curious with an open mind and a willingness to learn. Her goal is to take the wisdom that Joan, Ana. Tiffany and others have taught her and use it to train and empower the next generation of tax collector employees.
