Driver License and ID Card Expiration Extensions

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has issued an Emergency Order extending the expiration date of driver licenses and identification cards and waiving some commercial motor vehicle regulations. 


Florida driver licenses and identification cards that expired between March 16, 2020, through April 15, 2020 are extended for 60 days. For example: a driver license that expired on March 16th is now valid through May 15, 2020.


All driver licenses and identification cards that expire between April 16, 2020, through April 30, 2020, are extending for 30 days.  For example:  a driver license that expires on April 25, 2020, will be extended until May 25, 2020.  


To help stop the spread of Covid-19 and stay within the social distancing guidelines, you may go online to to renew your driver license or identification card.  Some restrictions for renewing online, such as only being able to renew if you are Real ID compliant, have been temporarily lifted to allow for greater access to this online service.
