A Vehicle Permit contains vehicle and owner information. Vehicle stickers are color coded stickers issued annually. Both Vehicle Permits and stickers expire annually on September 30 and must be renewed through the Lee County Tax Collector office.

Below are answers to some of the more commonly asked questions about Vehicle Permits and stickers:

Who is Required to Obtain a Vehicle Permit and Stickers?

Any individual, firm, corporation, partnership, company association, joint venture, or any other type of organization or enterprise operating a taxicab company, a Transportation Network Company or an independent contractor operating a vehicle for hire within Lee County is required to obtain a Vehicle Permit and stickers. Documents can be submitted by email to or in person at the Lee County Tax Collector office, 2480 Thompson Street, Fort Myers.

When Will I Receive my Vehicle Permit and Stickers?

Before a Vehicle Permit and stickers will be issued, the following must be submitted:

            ○  An ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified vehicle inspection is required by an                                     ASE certified mechanic upon initial application and every three (3) years thereafter

            ○ The years an ASE certified vehicle inspection is not required, an ASE certified vehicle                                    inspection or an in-house vehicle inspection may be completed

Are Charter Service Vehicles Required to Obtain a Sticker?

Stickers are required; however, they are not required to be placed on the vehicle windows. They should remain in the glove box, attached to the Vehicle Permit.
