Class E Driver License Road Testing has reopened at the
North Fort Myers Service Center
Testing will be held by appointment only
and is open to Lee County residents. 

Beginning August 19th, road testing will also be available
at our South Fort Myers Service Center.

Please read the information below before scheduling
your road test appointment.



Road tests are provided to Lee County residents at the North Fort Myers and South Fort Myers service centers. To protect our workforce and to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the Lee County Tax Collector’s office is taking extra safety precautions during road tests. A clean sanitized vehicle will be provided for testing. All service centers are practicing social distancing and have a limited lobby capacity.



All testers must provide proof of legal presence for driver license issuance.  Please refer to our website driver license section for more information on required documents needed by clicking here:

  • Road tests are provided by appointment to Lee County residents only. Verification is required, tester must provide mail with their name and Lee County address or already have established a Lee County address in our records.
  • Testers are required to wear a face mask during road test.
  • Tester can have an interpreter; however, the interpreter should be fluent in English and foreign language.
  • Only one appointment per customer per day for road test.
  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled appointment time or your appointment may be rescheduled.



Road test skill exams can also be taken through a third party driving school. APA Driving School (239-243-9422) and Ault’s Driver Education Center (941-474-5125) are local providers in Lee County. Please refer to the DHSMV website for a list of all providers.
