The owner of a recreational vessel equipped with a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) registered emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) or owner of a NOAA registered personal locator beacon (PLB) may be eligible to receive a vessel registration fee reduction.  After registration with NOAA, the owner will receive a proof of registration letter and a decal that must be affixed to the beacon.

To qualify for the reduced vessel registration fees the vessel owner must present the proof of registration letter provided to them by the NOAA.

Other important information: If you own more than one vessel that is equipped with an EPIRB, you will receive a fee reduction when registering each vessel.  The owner of a PLB is limited to only one fee reduction regardless of how many vessels you own.  If you are eligible for the fee reduction and you choose to renew for two years, you will receive the fee reduction for both years regardless if the NOAA registration documentation expires during the second year of the renewal period.
